Fabulous Friends – The Terrace – Florist
I always look forward to walking into a venue on the day of the wedding and it never fails to take my breath away. Every couple puts their own stamp on their day and one of the real joys of my job is revelling in how florists and caters have transformed a blank space into something stunning.
Last September I had the honour of being Anj and Pete’s celebrant for their autumn wedding at High Billinghurst Farm. Regular readers will know that I do a lot of weddings at this stunning venue. On this particular day I walked into the barn to see long tables festooned with beautiful glass vases of cream and green flowers and foliage coupled with copper glass frames and lanterns – so in keeping with the rustic nature of the venue. Thistles featured prominently and were also used to decorate the wedding cake.
Dean at The Terrace in London was the creative genius behind Anj and Pete’s ceremony and it has been a delight to get to know more about his story. Having worked for a prestigious florist in Mayfair for many years, Dean has worked with the great and the good and decorated some phenomenal venues! But it was Anj and Pete’s wedding that inspired him to start his own business and focus on weddings. I think he’s been well set up to take on this new venture!
In recent months I’ve got to know Dean and drooled at the phenomenal photos of his creations that he regularly posts on Instagram (@theterracelondon). I like to feature suppliers on my blog who I feel will offer something different and augment a couple’s vision for their day.
Dean’s philosophy is inspired by nature and the surroundings of the venue. The venue is the blank canvas and the client often provides further inspiration for colours. He has a knack for visiting a space and always finding something to spark an idea for how to decorate the space with flowers while letting the flowers speak for themselves. He revels in taking your ideas up a notch and bringing your wedding vision to life. Plus, like me, he loves to see clients reactions when they see the finished result for the first time!
When planning your wedding, it’s really important to work with suppliers who will not only deliver what you want but also ‘get you.’ Look for people you ‘gel’ with and want to get to know more. Those are the people who are going to make the planning experience so much more enjoyable and in the end exceed your expectations. Dean is one of those people who you will just love getting to know and will deliver 100% what you want and more!
